Invitation
We welcome you to come to the 14th IUAPPA World Congress 2007, to be held in the beautiful, relaxed city of Brisbane, Australia, a city that prides itself on friendliness, liveability and a delightful springtime climate.
The theme of the Congress is "Partnerships" and the conference logo grew out of the growing spirit of reconciliation with the indigenous community in Australia, as well as reflecting the reconciliation between the built and the natural environment. The Congress program will focus on meaningful interactions between air quality professionals and other professional and community groups, on the consideration of partnerships between nations (for example in the resolution transboundary events), on the management of environmental partnerships between rural and urban communities.
This Congress will bring together specialists from science, industry and government to present insights into progress challenges in the achievement of improved air quality, and to consider perspectives provided by representatives of wider society. These exchanges are intended to examine local, national and international issues, not only those from traditional economies but also those that challenge the developing economies in Asia.
The Congress is timed to take advantage of the beautiful Spring weather of this subtropical city and local region. Incorporate into your visit the Brisbane River Festival 2007 and the 2007 Brisbane-based Asia Pacific Cities Summit, one activity UNEP Division for Sustainable Development Theme for 2006/7 on Air Pollution and the Atmosphere.
And remember that Australia, and in particular Queensland, is a tourist's paradise. Take time to see the coral of the magnificent Great Barrier Reef, to walk in the lush jungles or the dusty outback, to swim at the serene beaches. You will be delighted.
This will be an exciting Congress and the organising committee takes great pleasure in inviting you to participate. We look forward to seeing you in Brisbane in 2007.
