Planning for Air pollution Hazard Zones in Tehran City
Polluted air is a major health hazard in metropolitans and big cities. In 2005 year, urban areas comprise 3% of the world size, in which approximately 48.3% of the world population reside .In fact; it was 3.17 billion out of a world 6.45 billion. Current trends predict that the number of urban dwellers will keep rising, reaching almost 5 billion by 2030 out of a world 8.1 billion. Between 2005 and 2030, the world's urban population is expected to grow at an average annual rate of 1.78 per cent, almost twice the growth rate of the world's total population.
Now, if we accept that more of air pollution is in big cities and their growth will be cause aggravation in air pollution.
Therefore, we need consideration of pollution resources and kinds of activations and special manner of land use in cities.
Tehran metropolitan is located in the north of Iran. Its population was almost 13.5 millions in 2003 year that it is including city and countries population.
Its population also predicated to reach almost 17.7 millions in 2020 Year (it will be including 8.5 millions in city and 9.2 millions in countries).
In this way, the air quality of Tehran city is always in law level and the air population is so complex .Because, pollution recourses are relation to many different sectors in this city such: economic, social, culture, environment, etc
In addition, Its geography conditions always causes corroboration of pollution .Because, There are chain mountains around Tehran city and the cold weather always provides inversion in every winter. This problem appears to other form in summers and other sessions.
This research shows hazard zones of air pollution in Tehran city. It presents the circumstances of air pollution recourses centers in this city. In fact, it shows situation of hazard zones with kinds of gases and particles soils and distribution factors in air by using GIS and the initial results of the circumstances of carrying out the planning in different zonings.
