  • Fine Particle characteristics such as size, surface area and chemistry seem to influence the negative effects on human health and the environment of particles. In this study, air quality samples have been collected at a selected monitoring site in the Sydney region to determine the physical and chemical composition of collected fine particles as a function of their size. As different sources emit particles in different size range such a study can also assist to understand the source receptor relationships. For the current paper, we have used data collected from a monitoring site heavily affected by motor vehicle emissions. The collected samples were analysed for gravimetric mass, metals and organic carbon fractions using different selected techniques. The meteorological data for the sampling period was obtained from the adjacent monitoring station. The results from this campaign are presented here.
