Investigation of MVOC Measurements using the HAPSITE Mobile GC Unit in Mouldy Buildings

    • Severely mouldy buildings and houses were investigated using the HAPSITE mobile GC unit in order to determine the suitability of this type of investigation technique to track down sources of mould growth. Measurements were calibrated against Lab cultures growing in racing tubes. The techniques proved difficult to establish as concentrations of MVOCs indoors are normally low, even though mouldy odors can be resent on overwhelming amounts. The link between chemical species chain length and odour is also discussed.
