The Measurement of Air Pollutants with the UV Differential Optical Absorption Technique (UV DOAS)
In this paper the use of the differential optical absorption measurement technique for the measurement of air pollutants will be described. This measurement technique is capable to measure different key air pollutants at the same time continuously, on-line and remotely on measurement paths of up to more than several 100 m length. No grab sampling of the air pollutants is necessary in this method. In this paper the technique of the UV DOAS method is described. Moreover different examples of applications will be given, e.g. for the measurement of air quality in urban areas and the remote measurement of gas emissions of a volcano in Europe.
