Abstract for presentation at 14th IUAPPA World Congress

An Innovative Solid Wastes Incineration with Energy Generation Increased by Vegetable Biomass

  • Rudolf Suppa, ABEPPOLAR, Brazil
  • “Everyday 13.000 tons litter are collected in São Paulo City. And, soon won't be place to carry those wastes” – O Estado de São Paulo Journal – 2005.
No doubt : each inhabitant produces more than 1kg of solid wastes daily so as in all the cities. Therefore the incineration is the best solution, when it’s compared with the wastes handling and disposal that is also rejected by the population and that requires extensive, rare and far areas. Therefore, safe and clean incineration with energy generation, was addopted by Denmark, Germany, Japan, USA, etc..
The public must be better informated about the disadvantages of the waste disposal processes with their inexorable methane emissions and the advantages of incineration process with energy recovery – chiefly when added with renewable biomass deriving from the public cleaning and tree’s pruning, dead trees, gardens, etc.. Therefore we have an interesting and favourable situation, by increasing the vegetation in urban and suburban areas by massive arborization, reforesting will have more pruning. That means more biomass, that is renewable fuel forever. Certainly with economic return, besides more advantageous solutions:
    - Biomass increases the incineration calorific power
    - Biomass in growth catches atmospheric carbon dioxyde
    - More vegetation diminishes temperature and noise in cities
    - Better life quality
